Limited Capacity filling up

The Impact of Identity in K-8 Mathematics highlights five equity-based mathematics teaching practices that strengthen learning and cultivate positive student mathematical identities. The five practices are: Going deep with mathematics, Leveraging multiple mathematical competencies, Affirming mathematics learners’ identities, Challenging spaces of marginality, and Drawing on multiple resources of knowledge. This session will offer the opportunity to take stock of what your school has to offer students in relation to these practices and to build on those teaching strengths while acknowledging elements that may need additional work. It will also present characteristics of lessons that represent the practices as well as resources to assist leaders in identifying, observing and coaching for this at the building level.
